How do you say 2000 as a time?

Twenty hundred — not “two thousand.”

2000 Military Time — What Time Is 2000? (8:00 PM)

Convert 2000

2000 is hour 20. Subtract 12 → 8:00 PM. From 8:00 PM add 12 → 20 → write 2000. People sometimes misread “2000” as a year; in a time field the four digits are always the clock.

How to say 2000

Say “twenty hundred.” You may also hear “twenty hundred hours.” Avoid saying “two thousand” when you mean the time of day — that reading belongs to the year, not the clock.

Timezone note

A brief that says “report at 2000” means 8:00 PM local unless a Zulu label is attached. Night ops that truly need UTC will write 2000Z or spell out the zone.

Payroll / decimal hours

2000 → 20.00 decimal hours. From 1200 noon to 2000 is exactly 8.00 hours. From 1400 to 2000 is 6.00 hours — handy for evening retail closes.

2000 vs the year 2000

Context fixes the ambiguity. On a duty roster, 2000 is 8:00 PM. In a history essay, 2000 is a year. Four-digit time fields on this site always mean the clock.
